Best Practices 

While each individual platform has its set of best practices, there are a few golden rules when developing creative for social media platforms. 

  • Video is king right now. The use of video can improve an ads CTR (?) by X%. 

  • When using vertical placements – think Instagram Reels, Snapchat or TikTok – it is best to use a native-style video utilizing trending audio or themes. 

  • Text Recommendations 

    • Primary Text: 125 characters  

    • Headline: 40 characters  

    • Description: 30 characters  


    • File Type: JPG or PNG 

    • Resolution: At least 1080 x 1080 pixels  

      • RECOMMENDED 1080x1080 (1:1) AND 1080x1920 (9:16) 


    •  File Type: MP4, MOV or GIF  

    • Ratio: 1:1 and 9:16 

      • RECOMMENDED 1080x1080 (1:1) AND 1080x1920 (9:16) 

    • Video Settings: H.264 compression, square pixels, fixed frame rate, progressive scan and stereo AAC audio compression at 128kbps+ 

    • Resolution: At least 1080 x 1080 pixels  

    • Video Captions: Optional, but recommended via .srt file 

    • Video Sound: Optional, but recommended 

    • Video Duration: 1 second to 241 minutes 


        • Anything longer than 15 seconds will not run on in-stream video placements 

    • Maximum File Size: 4GB 

    • Minimum Width: 120 pixels 

    • Minimum Height: 120 pixels
